Frequency festival, or FM4 Frequency Festival, takes place annually in Salzburg, Austria. Ever since it started out in 2001, the festival has attracted acts from all over the globe spanning genres such as rock, electronica and hip hop. 

Originally names 'Vienna City Festival', Frequency has grown in size over the years with 43 bands performing in 2006 compared to only 6 artists per day in 2001. Last year was arguably the most successful since the festival started with acts such as  Big names in the past have included The Prodigy, Morrissey, Muse, Foo Fighters, King of Leon, Metallica, Die Artzte, Nine Inch Nails, The Kaiser Chiefs, Seeed, The Good, the bad and the Queen, !!!, M.I.A., and Billy Talent, Juliette & The Licks, Jimmy Eat World, Eagles of Death Metal, and loads more. This year's festival includes an open stage, which allows anyone to get up and play.
